Family Day Outfit and Makeup

Happy Hump Day!!!

Hey y'all, I hope you're having an awesome week and have an even awesomer (just made up my own word) rest of the week.

... Even though I'm a stay at home mom and I don't have to go out into the work force I still look forward to the weekend because I know it's always family time spending it out doors with my husband and the kids. Last Saturday my husband had family day for work and we had a fun time getting some good ole vitamin D and eating lots of great food.

...So today I decided to show y'all what I wore for the family day event.

I wanted to keep it really basic by throwing on some jeans (as per usual) but dressing it up a bit with these beautiful wedges.

I love these shoes, they have just the right amount of height, and feel super comfortable.

The day before the family day event I had purchased the Too Faced chocolate bar palette so it was only obvious that was the palette I was going to be using.

On my lids I'm wearing Creme Brulee and on the outer V Cherry Cordial.  Because it was a little hot  I wanted to make sure my foundation was long lasting, as well as oil controlling. The obvious choice was the Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation. This foundation is the bomb dot com, it is very mattifying without looking cakey and super long lasting. On my lips I'm wearing Avon glimmer stick lip liner with MAC Fleur D Coral lipstick and Dior dior addict fluid stick in #239 Frisson.

top: Body Central (last year)
jeans: Express
shoes: Target
makeup: Sephora

Dior Addict Fluid Stick Review

Happy Thursday y'all!!!

So as you all may or may not know Dior launched a new lip product for the Spring 2014 collection. As a lip junkie, I was lusting over the Dior addict fluid sticks. They made their debut at my local Sephora May 2nd. Because I was waiting impatiently for these bad boys to make their appearance, as soon as they were released I made sure I was the first one there. Much to my surprise they were not displayed on the floor yet. The sales associate didn't even know what I was talking about. But I whipped out my handy dandy Sephora application, and showed her that it was available according to the website at my nearest Sephora. She went to the back to look, and ta-daaa... the angels starting singing. She then tells me that they don't have the testers out yet, but I said no worries, I know exactly which shade I want. I felt like a kid in a candy store. My son laughs at me because he says "you're silly mami, why do you get so excited over makeup?" Are you serious? How can you not. Specially after seeing these beauties.

They do come at a hefty price. Each fluid stick is $35.00 with 0.18 oz, which is why at the time I only came home with one. But after I put it on my lips, I knew I had to go back for more. There are 17 colors in the range, with one shade exclusive to Sephora. With so many colors in the collection I'm sure there will be a shade for you.

The packaging at first glance leads you to believe it' s a lipstick. But it's not, not this baby. It has the pigmentation of a lipstick, and the shine of a gloss. Think of it as a hybrid, two great products housed in one.

Upon application I felt a little cool sensation, but not like a plumping lip gloss, it just felt cool. It glided on my lips a little streaky, but I went over it again and the streaks were gone. It feels completely weight less on my lips. It may be due to the fact that they are water based and not wax. Upon application the water evaporates leaving your lips pigmented and glossy. They did feel though slightly tacky. Not tacky or sticky like a mac prolong wear sticky, but tacky like it's going to last a while on your lips tacky. On my lips it lasted a good three hours before I started seeing any fading.  It did settle into my fine lines, but honestly all my lipsticks/lip glosses do that, so it's not a con for me.

Overall, I am very impressed with these fluid sticks and I will go back for more. At least one more. I feel like I always have to have a peach, pink, nude and red.

If you do not mind paying $35 for a lipstick/lip gloss, or are a Dior addict then I highly recommend you pick these up, at least one.

So I obviously went back for more. Here are lip swatches of the four that I own. If you want to see them in action head on over to my YouTube channel. #makeupbymarcelar

I purchased the fluid sticks at Sephora with my own money and I am not affiliated in any way with Sephora or Dior.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Review

Good morning beauties and happy Friday!!!

So today's review should come to no surprise to y'all. If you've been watching my YouTube channel since day one then you will know that I am obsessed with these powders (understatement). They are a part of my makeup collection that I will most probably never go without. Hopefully Hourglass never discontinues these bad boys because I don't think my poor little heart can handle that pain...haha, cue in dramatic music.

In case you don't know, I have oily, sensitive, and acne prone skin ( the best of all worlds). So I have to be very careful with what I apply on my skin. With that being said, my skin also lacks that young and radiant, healthy looking skin, so I'm always on the hunt for products that can provide that for me, without making me look oily.

...and that is when Hourglass changed my skin. These powders are meant to create that "perfect light", capture, diffuse and soften the way light reflects on your skin. When I apply these powders they give my skin that healthy, luminous glow, blur out my imperfections, as well as brighten up my complexion. I swear these powders are miracles in a powder. They have dramatically changed my makeup and I can't go one day without them. They photograph beautifully as well.

These powders are very versatile. You can use them as setting powders, or finishing powders for all over your face. You can set your under eyes, so your concealer can stay in place all day. I've also used two of the shades for highlighting and bronzing my cheeks. The list is endless. The versatility is on point and I can appreciate that because the more a product can do for me the better. However, these powders are a little on the expensive side. But that goes without being said because it is Hourglass, and if you're familiar with the brand then you will know it's a high end brand.  You get 0.35 oz of powder for $45. With that being said, I can justify spending that much on a product because I feel it is truly worth it.

1. Ethereal Light is an opalescent sheer white, cool tone powder. I like to use this and Diffused Light to set and highlight my under eye.

2. Diffused Light is a soft warm pale yellow powder. Because ethereal light is cool tone and this is warm tone I like mixing both to give me my perfect under eye highlight.

3. Dim Light is a neutral peach beige powder. This powder has a little bit of both cool and warm tones. I like to use this one on my blemish scars to diminish them and blur them out.

4. Mood Light is a soft sheer lavender pink that mimics the softest most forgiving light and brightens up the complexion.

5. Luminous light is a champagne pearl powder that creates a soft incandescent candle lit glow, and it's perfect for daytime or nighttime wear.

6. Radiant light is a golden beige powder that adds a subtle warmth, perfect for bronzing.
