Urban Decay Naked Basics Review

Good Morning y'all and happy Thursday!!!

So I know that Urban Decay has released the Basics 2 palette, and the hype is all around that one right now. But I showcased the original Basics palette in my August favorites youtube video, so I wanted to show y'all why this little palette may seem so basic but so beautiful all at the same time.

To start off, this is what the packaging looks like. The palette has a suede like feel to it making it really comfortable to the touch. Embossed in the front you get the signature Naked Urban Decay Basics logo. And in the back you get the expiration date, which is 12 months. And the amount of shadows/ ounces, as well as where it was distributed.
Front/ Back
I purchased mine through Sephora, but you can purchase it at Ulta, and Urban Decay.com as well. This palette is $29 and you get 6 matte neutrals shadows at 0.05oz each. However, I feel as though you get five mattes, and one satin finish. Four of the shades are never before seen by Urban Decay and 2 are repeats. Foxy is in the Naked 2 palette, and Walk Of Shame (W.O.S.) is available as a single shadow.

The compact is very sleek, a little smaller than the length of my iphone5, making it  perfect for travel. The shadows are so buttery and smooth making it extremely easy to blend. Which seems almost impossible because if you know anything about makeup, you would know that matte eyeshadows are a paint in the b*tt, to blend. Each shadow features Urban Decay's brand new pigment infusion system™, the proprietary blend of ingredient that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power, and blendability.
This is what the shadows look like swatched on my forearm. From top to bottom, crave is a brown/ black matte, faint is a warm, dusty brown matte, naked 2 is a taupe matte, w.o.s. is a light taupey matte, foxy is a yellow matte, and venus is a soft off white satin. In my opinion, this is a must have palette. You can create so many looks by simply only using this palette, or accompany this palette with colorful shadows. When creating a look with colorful shadows you can always use faint or naked 2 as your transition shade,  crave as an eyeliner, foxy as your brow bone highlight, and venus as your inner corner highlight. It also pairs perfectly with your naked palette. I believe the reason Urban Decay released this palette is because people were suggesting that they come out with an all matte palette since the original Naked is mainly shimmery shades.

Faint on the lid, naked 2 to transition and crave to line the rims of my eye
foxy on the lid, and crave on the crease and outer v

faint and crave on the lid

venus on the center of the eye, faint on both sides of venus, and crave on the inner and outer corner of the eye
This is just several of the looks I've created using the basics palette, but seriously your possibilities are endless. You can create some really toned down every day looks, to bold and dramatic looks.

Yves Saint Laurent Fusion Ink Foundation Review

Happy Friday y'all!!!

Two posts in one week, WHAT!

Well today's post is in conjunction with my youtube video. If y'all are interested in seeing that video I will leave a link down below.

...a revolutionary, fine-as-ink foundation with broad spectrum SPF18 that perfects the skin while it wears weightlessly for 24 hours.
Basically, this is a long wearing foundation, that feels very light weight on the skin. I wore it for a good 7-8 hours before I started seeing some separation around my nose area. Keep in mind, I do have an oily T-zone so the first signs of separation are around my nose, and chin. I had to blot around the fifth hour mark which is pretty good, if you ask me. I did use a primer, and I did set it with a powder as well. That is just what I do with every foundation, so I'm not going to change it for the sake of a review.

I failed to mention in the video that the foundation is $60, and it's 0.84 fl. oz. So you do not get the standard 1 oz. bottle. I also didn't mention that it does have a scent. It has your typical YSL smell, a la rouge volupte lipstick, with a very distant alcohol smell.

Personally, I love this foundation. It is not full coverage what so ever. I would say it's more light to buildable medium coverage. If you decide to only do one application, you will get a very light coverage, but I applied it twice and it gave me a better coverage, without making me look cakey, or "fake" like.  It feels very comfortable on my skin, and it feels like I'm not wearing anything.

No Makeup y'all...Don't be frightened. haha

Two different occasions of me wearing the foundation. If  you can see it does settle into my "parenthesis lines". I would not suggest this foundation, if you have wrinkles because it might settle into them.

I also would not recommend it for dry skin, because it did emphasize some dry patches I had around my nose as well as on Charlie (a zit on the side of my face).

I do love this foundation though, it has quickly become a favorite in my foundation collection.

Outfit Of The Day (Husband's Birthday)

Hey y'all and happy hump day!!!

Jeans for any occassion

Today's blog which is an outfit of the day is what I wore for my husband's birthday. It was last Sunday, so basically it's what I wore to church. This outfit didn't make it all through the night because we went to a baseball game later that evening, and I was most definitely not going to wear this to the stadium. If y'all know me and my style then y'all know that I am most comfortable in jeans. Jeans are my most go to pieces in my closet because they are just so versatile. The best thing about wearing jeans is that you can easily dress them up or down by simply changing your shoes, and/or your top.
top: PX (two years ago)
jeans: express

For foundation I am wearing the new YSL Fusion Ink Foundation in BD45 Warm Bisque. Which by the way I am loving and will have a review on it on my youtube channel real soon. For blush I wanted something more orange, so I went with Tarte's blush in captivating. On my eyes I'm using the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette, y'all know me, neutral's all the way!!!. To finish the look I used wet n wild just peachy lipstick topped with pink lemonade lipglass by MAC.

Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.

Yves Saint Laurent (Rouge Volupte/Shine) and Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain

Hey y'all and happy Thursday!!!

Today's blog is in conjunction with today's youtube video. I'm providing this blog so you can see better pics and lip swatches in case the lighting in my video was not the best for y'all.

YSL's lipstick in my opinion are some of the best high end products in the market. They are very smooth and creamy feeling on the lips. The formula is long lasting and extremely opaque as well. They also contain spf 15 which is great for preventing sun burn or skin damage to your lips. A lot of us forget that we can also damage our lips with sun exposure and forget to protect our lips, so that's an exra added bonus...at least for me.

They are highly pricey, but it is YSL so you know what you're getting yourself into. At sephora which is where I purchased mine they are $35 each with 0.12oz for the volupte and $35 with 0.20oz for the glossy stains.

Here are swatches of the lipsticks on my lips.

#2 Sensual Silk

Outfit Of The Day (Black and White)

So this weekend Sephora was having a VIB closed door event, I was super excited in attending since this would be my first time participating in such event.

This outfit I put together was inspired by the event. I also did a black and white manicure inspired by Sephora, if you're interested head on over to my instagram makeupbymarcelarivera. There's a direct link in the homepage.

While in Miami visiting family, I did major shopping. My husband, sister and I went to Dolphin Mall and we perused the stores for 6 hours. I'm not even kidding y'all. If you're not familiar with Dolphin Mall, it's like a BIG indoor outlet mall. There's also many restaurants to choose from so you can fuel up and continue spending your hard earned money, which we did.

Long story short, this simple but very beautiful shirt was found in one of the Marshall's Home Goods aisle. That's the only downfall from shopping at stores like Marshall's, TJ MAXX, or Ross. These types of stores are not all that organized, but if you're not in a rush and have the time to really walk the store you can find some great stuff, at very cheap and affordable prices. Hence, this shirt was only $8.98. I love the style of this shirt because it emphasizes your waist, and the vertical lines give the illusion of a longer torso. Which we all know at 5'2, I am very short, with a very short torso.

The white jeans are from Express. They are the stella low rise ankle legging. Not sure why a mother of two young'ins would purchase white jeans, but I managed to keep them clean and white for the rest of the day.

Later that day (after the Sephora event), we took the kids to the movies to watch Planes: Fire and Rescue. Which by the way, was a really good movie. I am always cold inside the movie theater's, so I decided to bring my leather jacket with me. Even if I didn't use it, I'm sure one of my little one's would be asking me for it.

This style is the peplum style jacket so it's very forgiving, (if you know what I mean). The brand is black rivet, and you can find something similar here.

My makeup was very basic. For foundation I used the Lancome Teint Visionnaire skin correcting makeup duo in the shade 250 Bisque W. For a little bit of color on my cheeks I used Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12 hour blush in Captivating. A gorgeous warm peach color that I feel goes great with my warm complexion. I added a little bit of a highlight on the tops of my cheekbones with Dior's Amber Diamond.  On my eyes I used the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. The darker colors on the outer V and crease, and the lighter colors on the brown bone, and lid. To finish off the look I used Yves Saint Laurent rouge volupte lipstick in #1 Silky Sensual, and topped it off with Yves Saint Laurent gloss volupte in #20 Nude Carat.

And that completes my look y'all. What do you think? I used a lot of high low pieces so the outfit is very affordable.

I  hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
